If you are just starting out, try to go as long as you feel comfortable. Most guys go for a few hours for the first few weeks. As it stretches out, you can start wearing one for 24 hours a day. Some guys wear a small weight 24/7 and then add on a lot more for a short while to really stretch it all out. You should make sure you are not loosing any feeling and still have good color before deciding to leave it on longer. Dark colors like purple are bad - you should try something wider. Red seems to be normal. I am at the stage were I take my weight off for work, but wear it at home and while I sleep. I'm hoping to go 24/7 soon.
